All of Vanguard Software's products are built on a shared technology foundation. This foundation is organized into layers, like building blocks, that join to form intelligent, interactive applications for translating knowledge into quantitative models to help you solve problems and make better decisions.

The first layer provides Basic Analytic Capabilities. These capabilities encompass all of the core functionality you expect to find in spreadsheets, statistics applications, and math applications combined. These capabilities include:

• Units of measure,
• Complex numbers,
• Etc.

The second layer uses the Basic Analytic Capabilities as a foundation on which Decision Analysis Methods are implemented. These methods include best-in-class implementations of:

• Decision tree analysis,
• Markov analysis,
• Linear Program and Integer Program optimization,
• Sensitivity analysis,
• Rule-based expert systems,
• Analytic Hierarchy Process,

The first two layers define the core analytic engine shared by all of our products. The top layer includes the Delivery and User Interface methods used to integrate, present, and deploy this analytic power as useful business systems. This includes:

• Collaborative modeling,
• Web-based data collection, and
• Web-based reporting.

These capabilities allow people within organizations to collaboratively build models, applications, and complex systems that can be published to Web sites, corporate Intranets, and Wiki-style, interactive knowledge portals.
